During our recent trip to Singapore, we chose to stay at Hotel Boss, which is popular among many tourists.
This hotel comes highly recommended, not just for its location, but also for the range of amenities it offers.
In this post, I'll share our experience staying at Hotel Boss, covering everything from its location, how to get there, pricing, and the facilities they provide. I hope this can be helpful!
Hotel Boss is situated at 500 Jln Sultan, Singapore 199020, in a popular spot that makes it easy to reach many of Singapore’s popular tourist areas.
From the hotel, you can walk to Arab Street and the Kampong Glam district, which is a hub for Malay and Islamic culture in Singapore.
The area is packed with unique shops, restaurants, and cafes to explore. You can also visit the Malabar Mosque and Sultan Mosque. If you’re up for shopping, Mustafa Center and Bugis Junction are both nearby, about 1 km away.
For transportation, you can take buses, the MRT, or taxis to get to the hotel. If you prefer the MRT, the nearest station is Lavender MRT Station on the East West Line (EWL).
From there, it's about a 7-10 minute walk to Victoria Street, then onto Sultan Street to reach the hotel.
If you prefer to use bus, the closest stop is 'Opp Textile Ctr' (code 01419), just a 2-3 minute walk from the hotel. Buses like numbers 7, 32, 51, 63, and 80 can take you to tourist spots like Chinatown, Bugis, or Marina Bay with ease.
You can book a room at Hotel Boss through various third-party apps, but I opted for the official website, which you can access through this link. Booking directly from their site turned out to be cheaper!
At the time, I paid 133 SGD per night for a room with twin beds. This price is quite reasonable for Singapore, especially given the hotel's strategic location, which makes it easy to get around and visit popular attractions.
The booking process was smooth, and I received a confirmation email right after completing the payment.
If you're planning to stay here, I highly suggest booking early, especially during peak seasons. The rates can skyrocket when big events like the SG Marathon or the Singapore Airlines Formula 1 Grand Prix are happening.
When we arrived at Hotel Boss, we were surprised at how busy the reception area was, with many guests checking in and out at the same time.
Thankfully, they have multiple reception desks, so the wait wasn't too long. The staff was still friendly and professional despite the rush, even striking up a casual chat during the check-in process.
The hotel also provides convenient amenities, including elevators that take you to your room floors. If you arrive before check-in time, there's free luggage storage available, so you can explore the city without dragging your bags around.
The room we stayed in was 14 sqm—not too spacious but certainly enough, especially since we've experienced smaller rooms in Singapore before, some as tiny as 11 sqm.
Our room was the standard option, so there was no balcony or city view. But that was okay. As long as it’s clean, comfy, and has the essentials, we’re happy!
The room came equipped with all the basics: a TV, air conditioning, an electric kettle, drinking water, glasses, coffee and tea, a hairdryer, mini fridge, hotel slippers, telephone, and a safe deposit box.
The design was surprisingly elegant with a modern vibe! The color scheme of white, black, and brown, accented with gold abstract wall decorations, made the room look quite luxurious.
However, the WiFi was a major downside. The connection was so slow that it was practically unusable, maybe due to the high number of guests staying.
We tried using our mobile data, but it wasn’t much better either. The building’s structure seemed to block the signal. If you have a portable WiFi device, I’d recommend bringing it along for a more stable connection.
As for the bathroom, we were quite satisfied. It was clean, and although the amenities like soap, shampoo, and toothbrushes were on the smaller side, they were replenished daily, so no worries there!
The bathroom itself felt luxurious with its white color scheme and granite marble finishes. It was also spacious enough for a comfortable shower, and the hot water worked perfectly. I’m sure you'll enjoy it as much as we did!
Overall, our stay at Hotel Boss was comfortable and enjoyable, mainly thanks to its convenient location and easy access to many attractions.
While there are a few areas that could be improved, such as the long queues at reception and the sluggish WiFi, the hotel still offers a decent level of comfort for travelers.
With its good facilities and competitive rates, Hotel Boss is definitely worth considering if you're planning a trip to Singapore.
